Never Forget

It is safe to say the holocaust has changed me. I learned the terrible things one human could do to another. The Nazis killed and tortured millions of innocent Jews. After reading and learning about genocide, I realized how lucky I am. I am now very grateful to have a roof over my head, food on the table and loving family and friends. Before reading night I knew about the holocaust but not in detail. Night was so detailed and descriptive to the point where I could imagine myself in setting events. I can not even come close to imaging how these people felt. I now have great respect for people who were in the holocaust. Especially people who even after going through this decide to tell their stories, give speeches ( Elie's Nobel prize speech) or right a book (such as Night). It must be hard to speak of those horrible things they went through. I can't imagine the hard decisions people into the holocaust made. One decision could be life or death literally! In the movie Life is Beautiful.  The father was shot just to save his son. These people took risks to save people they loved. Another example is in Night Elie gave his food to his father instead of eating it himself. I'm taking away the fact that genocide is not impossible and that it has happened before and that it could happen again. But that we must help remember the holocaust making sure it will never happen again.

  1. Sam,
This is a well written post that got to the point and described what happened to families and people that underwent the Holocaust. You described how horrible the Holocaust was, but also the bravery that was showed by the prisoners because of the fact they had to choose life or death sometimes. A few things I would have to say is that you need a few commas and a little bit of spacing here and there, mostly at the end of your post. Great job!

  2. Hi Sam,
This post is very well written! The detail and explanation of how it made you feel was really good. The only thing I would say is that made you could have included a little about the Armenian genocide as well as the Holocaust. Awesome last post!

  3. Sam,
I think you did an excellent job on your final blog post. The one piece that really stuck out to me was when you mentioned how lucky learning about the Holocaust made you feel. I had not thought about that before reading your post but afterwards I did. It too made me fell lucky about all that I have. Sometimes, I take for granted all that I receive and do not think of it as anything special. Your writing made me realize how so much of what I see as non - important (a piece of bread) could have meant life or death for the people in the Holocaust The only question I have for you is, what did you think about the Armenian genocide? All in all awesome job!
