A I was reading the beginning of Night by Elie Wiesel I experienced many different emotions. I mostly felt horrified about everything that happened to all the jews. It really made me think about when Elie was thinking he was going to kill himself(33). I wondered what I would have done. After thinking about this for a while I still cannot come to a decision. I think that is because I simply can not picture myself in a situation anything close to like this. I was happy when the man was telling Elie and his dad how old they should say they were(30). This made me really happy because it was nice to see that someone was going around saving people even if he wasn't the most patient about it. It is really huge to think about it that if that man. Another thing I noticed was how heartless the Nazi’s were. For example they told people that were ill to report to the hospital car(24). When all that was going to happen was they would drive off and then kill all the sick people because they were not in working condition. Just try and imagine you taking a truck full of sick people and killing all of them, you would have to be pretty heartless to do that.

Owen,
ReplyDeleteI strongly agreed with your remark about being horrified becuase of what the Nazis were doing. I found many times during the novel it was difficult for me to continue reading becuase of how horrifying what the Nazis were doing was (burning people alive, shooting babies..). I also agree what your piece about not knowing what you would have done if you were faced with the decision of whether or not to kill yourself. Maybe you can include a piece about why you were not able to decide what you would have done? For me, I couldn't decide what to do because in that position I would not have know all the possibilities of what could happen to me. In addition, what did you think about Elie's writing style? Good job!

I agree as well with your opinion about the holocaust. it was a very sad moment that Ellie described well. I liked how you asked yourself questions and answered them. We all probably asked these questions to our self's when we were reading and you expressed your answer very well.
