For God's Sake!

Oh God, Master of the Universe
Children crying for water
People shot like dogs
In your infinite compassion have mercy on us!
Huge flames rising from ditches
Fire!
God, is that you?
Your face of an angel in distress
I no longer accept your silence
Efforts to resist the cold
Minds numb with indifference
Alone in a world without God
Nothing but ashes remain
The death of God
Listen to me!
That’s all I ask of you!
For God’s sake, where is God?

  4. Sophie,
Your poem was truly a mix of many emotions. I felt a sense of deep fear and sadness while reading this poem. When you included the the desperation of the children, it really made me feel a sense of sorrow seeing what these poor people had to go through.
    Keep up the good work!

  5. Dear Sophie,
Like Ian's comment, your post expresses many emotions. It also shows Elie questioning gods belief. Your poem was very well written and was very detailed.
    Good work!

  6. Dear Sophie,
I believe that you poem was really well written and included a lot of feelings and emotions. Like Ian I felt sadness while reading this and I believe that it clearly relates to the text in how the prisoners of Auschwitz actually felt and their loss of faith throughout the story.Great job.
