Elie Who Is Around Positivity
In one part of novel of Night, I found a section that I thought was very illustrious. What I mean by illustrious is that Elie has changed increasingly and it s important from my perspective. “Two boys came to join our group: Yossi and Tibi, two brothers from Czechoslovakia whose parents had been exterminated in Birkenau. They lived for each other, body and soul” (50).
“They quickly became my friends. Having once belonged to a Zionist youth organization, they knew countless Hebrew songs. And so we would sometimes hum melodies evoking the gentle waters of the Jordan River and the majestic sanctity of Jerusalem. We also spoke often about Palestine. Their parents, like mine, had not had the courage to sell everything and the emigrate while there was still time. We decided that if we were allowed to live until the Liberation, we would not stay another day in Europe. We would board the first ship to Haifa” (50-51).
From the passage that I picked out, I truly believe that the author, Elie Wiesel wanted to include a part where there was a little bit of positivity and hope because overall the book is based on cruelty and hopelessness. Elie made friends and they had a fun time because they were from the Zionist youth organization, and they had something in common. So the three of them Elie, Yossi, and Tibi had a great time singing songs that were specifically Hebrew. When the three of them were singing songs and playing games it represents friendship. The games, songs and plans for the future is so important because with the games and songs, that is the only thing that they can do that is representing happiness. With their plans about the future is so important because they have a big ambition of getting out of Europe and living their life own lives without control. At this specific section of the novel, I feel that Elie is not as sad as before.
Hi Dylan,
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I totally see your pov and I agree. Some places could use just some simple word changes. I was a little confused why you used the word illustrious in the beginning. Really good post overall!!

Hi Dylan,
ReplyDeleteNice job! I enjoyed reading this. I totally agree with what you were saying about them becoming friends. The only thing I would do is possibly revise is a couple spelling errors and possibly reword some of your phrase's.
Really Great Job overall!!!!!
