Our Study of Genocide
I enjoyed our trip to the Holocaust Museum. Even though I have already been there it touched my heart greatly. The museum is so touching and moving. When you walk into mostly any other museum you are fine. But, for some reason, when you walk into the Holocaust Museum this weird feeling runs down your body, me especially since I am Jewish. It's sometimes even challenging to talk when you are walking through some of the exhibits. That is what I like about it, that feeling makes you want to go find what made you have that feeling and why.
I have now become aware that somewhere, someplace there are people that think this mass genocide is nothing. Some people out there probably want to get rid of some type of religion or race. I also became aware that when people started hearing about what was happening they stayed silent. If they did not stay silent maybe not as many people would have been killed. I will take away a lot things from this unit. One main thing I will take away from this is to never stay silent again.
The movie “Life Is Beautiful” is a really sad and happy movie. There were a lot of connections with the book Night. It is so crazy and amazing how that father was able to trick his son into thinking their time in a concentration camp was a game. If he had not done that his son would not have lived. The movie was a great one. “For I belong to a traumatized generation, one that experienced the abandonment and solitude of our people.”(119) I will always try to remember this quote. One reason is that I belong to this traumatized generation. I am one of them.
Hi Jacob, I agree with you when you said when you walk into the the Holocaust Museum this weird feeling runs down your body. I sort of had the same feeling that you had because the information was just so intense in a emotional way.
ReplyDeleteHi, Jacob, I agree with you about the feeling when you walk into the museum and you feel run down. I felt the same way when I walked in. Great job on the last blog post. Very good and emotional writing.-Carter
ReplyDeleteJacob,
ReplyDeleteYour description of the feeling o the museum was perfect. I agree with your "Never stay silent". That line was very moving. "I am one of them" was also perfect. It was a beautiful way to sum up your experience. Great job.
