I knew it was coming but
I did not know how hard it would hit
Years spent with family
Washed away in one afternoon
I was in the kitchen on the first floor of my little house
I heard the rain slapping against the window
The loud booming of trees being ripped by the roots
Neighboring houses crumbling all around
Then it happened in the blink of an eye
No time to react
Squashed by stone and plaster
The floors that were once towering above me
Now crushing everything
Seeming unable to escape the grasp of death
Pinning me farther into the Earth
Listening for anything above me
I could hear the sounds of efforts to keep me alive
Hope was all I needed
Soup spilled on me from the kitchen table
Which had soaked fully into my new clothes
I lay there wanting to taste the famous soup of my mother
That she set on the table for my family to eat
Just before I got home
Trapped for three hours
When I was rescued
It wasn't soup I found on my clothes
The seeping liquid was blood
Drenching me like the raging storm
Killing me second by second
Great imagery!
