When we first arrived at camp
The stars spoke of everything we
Chose to seal away.
They possessed a power that was
Stronger than the few snatches of words
We muttered and a power that was
Greater than our lacerated bodies
Could handle.
The stars were the only objects left
In the sky before they were devoured
By the flames of the sun.
The walls that protected them
were invaded slowly
Leaving nothing behind, only
The gaping holes that were left
Hanging in the sky.

ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading this poem. It was really well done. I loved how you decided to talk about the stars and the hope not the sadness and the sorrow directly. I do not think I would change anything. Also I really liked how well it flowed.Really Great Job!!!!!!
